Courtney Drake-McDonough

Senior Publicist

Born and raised in Denver, Courtney thinks Colorado is the ideal place to live. If it had an ocean, she’d never leave.

Courtney graduated from the University of Denver with a degree in Mass Communications. That broad degree covered journalism, advertising, public relations, marketing and broadcasting which has served her very well over the years. Working for agencies, corporations, publications and websites, Courtney put all of that education to use, often simultaneously. Standout positions include writing for The Denver Post, as marketing director for Rose HealthCare Centers, and as an editor at Colorado Parent magazine.

Courtney also publishes two websites: the InGoodTasteDenver.com blog which covers food, arts, culture and travel in Colorado and RealFoodTraveler.com, a digital magazine encouraging people to travel the world while experiencing the local cuisine.

At Prim, Courtney is able to approach her work with the unique perspective of being a member of the media herself with representing clients who want to get the word out to media. Her duties include writing press releases, media pitches, spokesperson bios, and creating targeted media lists to help Prim’s clients.

Outside of work, Courtney enjoys spending time with her husband (whom she has known since middle school). She also enjoys getting together with her four adult kids who grew up to become really enjoyable people. When not bike riding or attending fun events, Courtney loves to travel, from small towns to glamorous cities, appreciating our differences and similarities.
